DeviceLock, Inc., an international leader in endpoint data leak prevention software solutions, announced today that their DeviceLock Endpoint DLP Suite has extended its data leak prevention capabilities to include control over data synchronizations between endpoint computers and locally connected smartphones and tablets through the popular Media Transfer Protocol (MTP).
The new feature enables DeviceLock customers to monitor, block, log, shadow and alert about unauthorized data transfers from corporate computers to USB-connected mobile devices under Android and Windows Phone operating systems, which use MTP as the standard protocol for file exchanges via the USB interface. In addition, event and shadow logs are recorded on the transfer attempts, as well as real-time alerts can be sent to security administrators and corporate Security Event and Information Management systems via standard SMTP and SNMP protocols.
“Uncontrolled data synchronizations through MTP between corporate computers and locally connected employee’s personal Android or Windows Phone devices has recently become a great concern for our customers in terms of data leakage risk,” explained Ashot Oganesyan, DeviceLock CTO and Founder. “By adding the ability to monitor and control MTP communications on protected endpoint computers, in addition to already controlled iTunes, ActiveSync, WDMC and HotSync exchanges, DeviceLock has further increased the level of data leak prevention provided by its product and demonstrated its dedication to deliver the best-value endpoint DLP solution to organizations of any size and industry.”
The DeviceLock Endpoint DLP Suite addresses the needs of organizations that require a simple and affordable approach to preventing data leaks from corporate Windows and Mac laptops, desktop computers, or remoted virtual Windows desktops and applications. The DeviceLock DLP solution is designed to effortlessly scale from small to large installations and simplify DLP deployment and management such that it can usually be performed by in-house Windows administrators using the Microsoft Active Directory’s Group Policy Management Console or DeviceLock’s companion consoles. The complete package delivers an unprecedented level of functionality among endpoint DLP solutions in an easily affordable price range.
In addition, the new product update extends the range of platforms protected by the DeviceLock agent to Apple OS X 10.9 Mavericks. From now on, DeviceLock customers that use Mac computers can confidently upgrade them to the most advanced Apple operating system without introducing the risk of data leakage via uncontrolled local ports and peripheral devices. The DeviceLock agent for Mac delivers essential device control capabilities while being managed in the most simple, scalable and universal way – natively from the corporate Microsoft Active Directory.
