Enterprise Data Loss Prevention & Device Control

Nuremberg, Germany – October 13, 2009 – DeviceLock, Inc., a worldwide leader in context-aware endpoint data leak prevention software solutions, and SecurStar, an industry leader in enterprise data and voice encryption solutions, today jointly announced the general availability of an integrated, centrally managed endpoint security solution that addresses the challenge of stopping unauthorized data transfers from corporate desktops and laptops to unencrypted removable memory devices and media – like USB sticks, flash memory cards and CDs/DVDs.

Released today, DeviceLock 6.4.1 port/device access control software adds the ability to allow or disallow data transfers based on whether the data is safely encrypted by DriveCrypt Plus Pack Enterprise (DCPPE) software 2.3.11 from SecurStar. When DeviceLock and DriveCrypt are installed on the same endpoint computer, all data encryption, as well as centralized key and password management functions, are performed by DriveCrypt, while DeviceLock’s ‘Crypto Intelligence’ feature checks for the encryption of data being transferred to removable storage devices and activates access control policies accordingly. For example, certain employees or their groups can be permitted to write data to and read data from USB flash drives, only if they have been encrypted with DriveCrypt. Other users may be allowed to read only from removable storage devices, but not write to them, even when encryption is applied.

With this data-centric approach, organizations can be assured that valuable corporate information kept on removable media or memory-enabled devices is reliably protected by strong encryption that prevents unauthorized data access should a device be lost or stolen.

As a result of this technology partnership with SecurStar, DeviceLock customers have their most affordable path yet to centrally-managed device control integrated with full disk and removable media encryption,” emphasized Ashot Oganesyan, DeviceLock CTO and Founder. “While both DeviceLock and DriveCrypt products can be purchased separately and independently, there is obvious synergy in the integrated bundle. This is a perfect example of a solution that leverages both partners’ technology leadership in their respective fields of expertise, enabling joint customers to cost-effectively complement one of these products by the value of the other without being forced to duplicate any of their functions.”

We are excited about our relationship with DeviceLock,” said SecurStar’s CEO and founder Wilfried Hafner. “It is a strong combined solution for customers who must enforce DLP policies and maintain better control of their data. Organizations have struggled with portable devices and policy enforcement and now they have a practical and cost effective solution,” he added.

For organizations of any size and industry, DeviceLock software proactively protects endpoint computers against local data leaks and malware infiltration resulting from insider negligence, accidental mistakes or malicious actions. It enables enterprises to precisely control, log, shadow-copy and audit end-user access to all types of local ports and peripheral devices, including local and network printers, as well as Windows Mobile®, iPhone®, Palm® and BlackBerry® smartphones. DeviceLock supports true file type detection and filtering by intercepting any file system’s read/write operations with peripheral devices, performing real-time analysis of the entire binary content of transmitted data and enforcing applicable file-type based security policies. In addition, DeviceLock blocks operations of USB and PS/2 hardware keyloggers. DeviceLock is designed for Microsoft Windows platforms and features comprehensive central management that is natively integrated with Microsoft Active Directory®.

SecurStar’s DCPP Enterprise Edition (DCPPE) is a centrally managed full disk encryption (fde) solution. It provides organizations an effective way to secure their Microsoft Windows based endpoints such as laptops, workstations, and servers reducing data exposure from loss or theft. In addition it supports mobile media including portable hard disk drives, USB memory devices, DVDs and CD- ROMs. The centralized management console supplies Administrators a rich set of enterprise management tools including Active Directory integration, password and disk recovery as well as reporting and remote installation capabilities. DCPPE is designed for end user transparency and the client encryption engine uses 256-bit AES, for fast, secure and reliable performance.
