We are currently using Device Lock version 7.3.52516 and have received an email advising that we can upgrade to version 8.2.

Please can someone advise whether its simply a case of running the msi on the existing server instance and then it will upgrade or do we need to do a completely fresh build of the new version?

Any help on this would be much appreciated

Hello,
first of all you need to upgrade the Server side and DeviceLock consoles by running the Setup.exe from installation package over the old version, thus keeping settings and configuration of the previous installation.

After that upgrade DeviceLock Agents on client computer using one of the following methods:
- Individually by connecting to each client computer with the new DeviceLock Management Console;
- On multiple client computers with Install Service plug-in of DeviceLock Enterprise Manager;
- On multiple client computers, or within selected Organizational Unit (OU) in AD/LDAP with Monitoring Task of DeviceLock Enterprise Server;
- On multiple computers, selected OU, or entire domain with AD Group Policy.
