The UKís most elite gentlemenís club hit by data breach

The Oxford and Cambridge Club, one of the United Kingdomís most elite gentlemenís clubs being hit by the theft of personal data of all its 5,000 members.

A backup computer drive was taken from a locked room inside the clubís headquarters in London.

The stolen information includes membersí names, home addresses, emails, phone numbers, bank account details, dates of birth, and photographs.

The clubís secretary claims that ďthe data contained on the disk is protected by multiple layers of security and heavy password protectionĒ. What does it exactly mean is unclear. Was the disk or files encrypted?

About a month ago, an unprotected USB stick containing confidential details about Heathrow security has been found in a London street. The USB memory stick contained documents outline routes and safeguards for the Queen, foreign dignitaries and top politicians using airport.
