Hi Support,
we currently run Devicelock on some servers and clients in a domain environment, and have purchased a proper license pack. Now part of this environment is to be sold to a customer. He intends to keep Devicelock and puchase licenses of his own. Being unfamiliar with Devicelock, he asked me wether I can assist him with the installation. I am not particularily eager to reinstall the product on all machines, with potential side effects on certificates, white-lists and such. * is it technically possibe to switch license by simply changing the license file on all boxes that will be sold, without reinstalling anything? Does this invalidate the certificates and/or the signed config files? * until the boxes go to the customer, they will have to continue running as part of our environment till say early spring 2010. I'd like to do the license swap ASAP, and I'd have a mixed license environment for a while. Will there be any adverse effect on the Devicelock functionality (e.g. render Certificates invalid, keep the Devicelock GPO from functioning, confuse the Devicelock Management console ... any oddities I have to expect?) * could I, as an alternative plan, leave our license in place, and revert the boxes to the demo license as soon as we roll them out of the door? Would that let Devicelock function until the demo period expires? If yes, how do I do that, and how would the customer install his license file as soon as he purchases an official license pack? Thanks, AL. |

First, you have to remove the old license by deleting the .lic (and .li_) files from the directory where DeviceLock Management Consoles are installed. Second, you have to delete the LIC parameter in the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SmartLine Vision\DeviceLock" registry key. Then you can install new licenses With best wishes, Ashot. |

There is no link between licenses and certificates. Just make sure that you have enough licenses to cover all your computers. With best wishes, Ashot. |

You can do that. However, please remember that in the trial mode DeviceLock works only for two computers. To switch to the trial mode, just remove the license (see my first message). Then, when your customer will purchase the new license from us, they will need to install this license in a regular way (instrutions are in the help file and in the registration e-mail sending with the license). With best wishes, Ashot. |
