Q: What is ARM?
A: Active Registry Monitor (ARM) is an utility designed for analyzing the changes made to Windows Registry - by making the "snapshots" of it and keeping them in the browsable database. You can compare any two snapshots and get the list of keys/data which are new, deleted or just changed. ARM can do comparing not only in the entire Regisrty, but also in any key of the Registry. It is also possible to exclude any keys of the Registry from compare results. Moreover, you can create undo/redo files (for example, to rollback the changes). To view the current state of a key, or to modify it, you can use Jump to Regedit function. Contents of any key can be exported to *.reg file.

Q: What limitations are there in an unregistered version?
A: There are no functional limitations for an unregistered version and you may use ARM (during the evaluation period) as a fully registered program but only on one computer. An unregistered version of ARM displays nag screens.

Q: Can I be sent an invoice when I purchase ARM?
A: Yes. Use our online forms at http://www.protect-me.com/arm/register.html. Select a payment method (order by fax, toll-free phone, bank transfer, etc.), then ask for an invoice.
Q: Is it safe to use my credit card on the internet?
A: Yes. All our registrations use SECURE protocols. It is impossible for a third party to intercept your credit card information. We also offer alternative ordering methods (such as order by fax, toll-free phone, bank transfer, etc.).
Q: I bought the Single license of ARM. Could I install ARM on all the computers in my network?
A: You may install and use ARM on only a single computer. The Single license gives you the right to use ARM on one computer so you are able to access registry on only one computer. If you wish to use ARM on several computers, you need to purchase the appropriate number of Single licenses.
For example, if you wish to access registry on:

one computer - you need to purchase one Single license ($40);

two computers - you need to purchase two Single licenses ($80);

up to 200 computers within the one network domain - you can buy the Site/Domain license ($1000). If you decide to add new computers (up to 200) to the domain, you won't pay for the extra licenses!

up to 2000 computers within the one geographical location - you can purchase the World/Corporate license ($3000) and install ARM on all the computers in your network. If you decide to add new computers (up to 2000) to the network, you won't pay for the extra licenses!

Q: What is the difference between Site/Domain and World/Corporate licenses?
A: The one Site/Domain license lets you install ARM on all the computers in ONLY one domain or network group with 200 or less computers. If you wish to install ARM on up to 2000 computers in all your domains within the one geographical location, you should purchase the World/Corporate license. Please contact us directly for a quote if the ARM is to be installed on more than 2000 computers.
Q: I bought a license for ARM. Do I need to buy another license each time ARM is upgraded or a newer version is released?
A: No. When you purchase a license (any kind) for ARM, you automatically purchase all future releases and updates.
Q: Is it possible to install ARM automatically (without any user intervention)?
A: Yes. Launch ARM setup with the /s parameter to install ARM without user intervention. This provides an install that can be used from within a batch file.
There is a special configuration file for silent setup: setup.ini
With this file, you can customize the ARM installation parameters. For example:

Q: Is it possible to install ARM using Systems Management Server (SMS)?
A: Yes. You can use the package definition files (arm.pdf for SMS version 1.x and arm.sms for SMS version 2.0 and later) supplied with ARM, located in the arm.zip file.
Q: I only see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS after scanning the registry. What about other keys?
A: ARM deals only with root keys, such as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_USERS. The key HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG is a copy of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Config\000, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a copy of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes, and HKEY_CURRENT_USER is a part of HKEY_USERS.
Q: How can I open more than one saved file to compare two copies of the registry?
A: ARM works with single file where you can store up to 100 scans. With this "database" you can do such operations as search and comparison. To compare two copies of the registry, you should have these copies scanned in the same file. It's impossible to compare two copies of the registry which were scanned in the different files.
